Stanford University : Sculpture by Richard Deutsch

Richard Deutsch was invited to design and create a multiuse environment that visually unifies the two engineering buildings on the site. This environment centers on a dome of basalt, which serves a gathering place in Gibbons’s Grove. Integrating the grove with the buildings are granite seating areas and a large stone table, all based on the workings of the wheel – a reference to the seminal achievement in the advancement of early engineering technology.
